About Counselling

I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I am able to use a combination of therapeutic theories and interventions. I believe we are all unique, therefore no single approach can suit every client in all situations.

Having an integrative approach allows me to be flexible to your needs. I aim to work holistically with the Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual aspects of self , that make up the whole of you.

The models of psychotherapy I integrate most are; Person centred, CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy),Psychodynamic, Existential, Mindfullness and Spirituality.

Counselling gives you a confidential, safe space, to talk to a qualified person outside your situation. I believe the counselling relationship is paramount to successful therapy. It is a shared journey where I aim to fully enter your world, to attempt to see it as you do, from your perspective. I will listen attentively to the spoken and unspoken word and I will strive to be genuine, honest and empathic with my responses.

I believe that you are the expert on yourself. My role is to facilitate and support  your move towards positive change, and to empower you to live according to your own values.

If after our first session you feel we can work together then we will agree on an initial number of sessions. You are not committed to this and can end counselling at any time. Sessions are usually at the same time each week but this is flexible.

We will review our sessions frequently as we go along and renegotiate whenever you wish.
